‘American Pickers’ Star’s Big Change After Frank Fritz’s Death

Mike Wolfe is making a life-changing move — six months after the death of his longtime friend and American Pickers co-star Frank Fritz.

The famous antique hunter announced in an Instagram post on Friday, April 18, that his Nashville-based brick and mortar store, Antique Archaeology, is closing. In a lengthy, heartfelt message, Wolfe reflected on the nearly 15 years he spent owning the store — while also recognizing “even when something is good, you have to pause and ask yourself where your time is going — and where your heart is calling you next.”

“For me, that’s family,” the History Channel star explained. “It’s slowing down a little, staying rooted, and focusing on the new projects that are pulling at my soul. I’m not disappearing — not even close. I’ll still be picking, sharing, and selling online and at our original LeClaire, Iowa store. But I’ve learned over the years that it’s easy to spread yourself too thin, and balance is something we all chase in one way or another.”

Wolfe closed out the caption by sharing that his last day at Antique Archaeology will be on Saturday, April 26, while the store will officially close for good the following day, on Sunday, April 27.

Wolfe has recently made several big career changes after Fritz’s death in September 2024. (Fritz, who died at age 60, passed away due to a stroke.)

While he is still helming American Pickers, Wolfe is also working on a new History Channel show, and also appeared in the movie The Day of Reckoning.
