Really want to be in I really love being in Nashville. We’ve lived here for 11 years and I can’t imagine calling anywhere else home. San Diego also has a special place in my heart, but I think living there might ruin that, so I’m staying put.

Silence, Blindside
Blindside was the band that really opened my eyes to the possibility of a frontman both singing and screaming equally. I mimicked Christian Lindskog’s voice in my early years of learning it all and to this day I don’t think anyone has blended the 2 styles better than he did.

Hiding Inside the Horrible Weather, My American Heart
I discovered My American Heart on the front page of purevolume.com during computer class in high school. I loved their music, and I was so inspired by the fact that they were already recording albums and touring at my [young] age. The band gave me a big confidence boost to pursue my dreams.

Phantoms, Acceptance
By the time Phantoms came out [in 2010], I was already obsessed with their Black Lines to Battlefields EP. Acceptance was a huge deal in the Pacific Northwest, which is where I grew up. I don’t think the band gets enough credit for how much of a masterpiece Phantoms was. It truly became a cult album and has inspired countless artists of different genres all over the world.

Fiends, Chasing Victory
I can’t believe this band didn’t get massive. Fiends is such a tasteful album front to back. For the timeframe it came out in, they really were tastemakers of the genre. I was living in Dallas at the time and whenever I hear a song from that record I can still smell the candle that was in my apartment.

Never Take Friendship Personal, Anberlin
I really debated whether I should do this or not. Truth is, this album has been a bigger part of my life than any other. My wife and I fell in love to these songs at the age of 16. My first band listened to these songs for inspiration before every rehearsal. To now be a part of this band that helped shape my music career, genuinely still doesn’t feel like real life. There’s more to this story, but you’ll have to wait for the announcement… 😉
