Turkey’s Kanal D Internatioanal Adds To Sales Team
Turkish distributor Kanal D International has beefed up its international team with a new hire and a promotion. Duda Rodrigues joins to cover sales to the U.S. and Canada as well as Latin America and Portuguese-speaking territories. With Turkish drama continuing to sell well internationally, Kanal D has also upped one of its existing sales execs. Selahattin Tosun has been made Head of Drama, Digital Partnerships, and Africa for the Turkish outfit. The outfit sells the likes of Secret of Pearls, which was a Deadline Hot One at MIPCOM.
UK’s Film & TV Charity Names Ambassadors Inc David Morrisey
The UK’s Film & TV Charity (TFTVC) has launched an ambassadors program. Sherwood star David Morrissey, writer Kit de Waal, director Amma Asante and broadcaster Marverine Cole have been selected for the role. The four will help strengthen TFTV’s mission to improve the wellbeing of industry workers, which has been a major priority for the charity over the past few years. Morrissey said: “I’m passionate about the industry becoming more inclusive, and we have to create an environment that enables that.” Asante added: “Change takes time, and I’m looking forward to joining the Charity’s team on their journey to a more supportive and inclusive environment for all.”
Switzerland’s Visions du Réel To Fete Raoul Peck
Filmmaker Raoul Peck will be the guest of honor at this year’s Visions du Réel film festival in Switzerland. Peck will give a masterclass and preside over a retrospective of his non-fiction work, along with a festival screening of his latest feature Ernest Cole: Lost and Found, which is set for a release in Swiss cinemas. Born in Haiti in 1953, and raised in Congo, New York, France, and Germany, Peck is one of contemporary cinema’s most prominent non-fiction filmmakers. He is perhaps known for his Oscar-nominated James Baldwin doc I Am Not Your Negro. Visions du Réel runs frim 4-13 of April.
Liberi Consulting & Former ITV Exec Team For Investment Initiative
Aimeé Norman and Janet Balmforth’s Liberi Consulting have teamed with former ITV exec Vanessa Chapman’s VJC Media to launch a specialist advice service for companies seeking investment and financing. The Growth Partners will look to work with small- to medium-sized film and TV businesses who are seeking their next step in business development. The service will look to aid with clear and concise goals, bespoke objectives, USP evaluation, market intelligence, industry position, corporate messaging and communications coaching. Norman and Balmforth have worked in corp comms for more than 25 years, including at DDA Blueprint, which was formed in 2011 when they combined Blueprint PR with DDA. More recently, they formed Liberi Consulting. Chapman formed VJC Media to advise IP owners, studios, international media businesses, broadcasters and investors on developing franchises, investment and financing. Previous roles include Controller of Children’s and Youth Programming at ITV and Controller of Programming and Strategy at Lego Media.
