With a new year comes the arrival of Moira Rose’s favorite season—and the first major awards show of it. The Golden Globes 2025, a Champagne-soaked soiree honoring the year’s best film and TV, air on Sunday, January 5. As for where to watch the Golden Globes 2025? The event will premiere live on CBS for the second year in a row—emceed by first-time host Nikki Glaser.

“I feel nothing but complete assurance and confidence in me being able to do this,” Glaser, perhaps best known for her triumphant roast of Tom Brady in 2024, recently told Vanity Fair. “There’s been some jobs I’ve gotten before that I’m like, I hope I can do this; this is a lot of pressure. This, I’m just like, Yeah, they picked the right person. No one’s gonna work harder than me at this.”

Her carefully curated monologue will kick off an evening led by Netflix’s Emilia Pérez, which tops the 2025 Golden Globe nominations list with 10 nods—the most ever for a musical-or-comedy entry at the Globes. Among the acting honorees for Jacques Audiard’s divisive musical are Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña in the supporting-actress category, in addition to Karla Sofía Gascón in best actress in a musical or comedy film. If Gascón wins that award, she’ll be the first out transgender performer in Globes history to win a top film-acting category. Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist trails behind on the film side with seven nominations, and is predicted to prevail in a few categories, including lead actor in a drama film for Adrien Brody.

In terms of TV, returning awards show favorites, like The Bear—which leads with five nominations—and Only Murders in the Building, are joined by newer titles, including Shōgun, Baby Reindeer, and Nobody Wants This.

Across both lineups, there are some acting snubs and surprises, as well as a mix of nominees old and new. There are first-timers like Cooper Koch, who portrayed Erik Menendez in Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and secured a nomination in the category of best actor in a limited series, anthology series, or motion picture made for television. This year Sebastian Stan was crowned a double nominee for both his dramatic turn as Donald Trump in The Apprentice and his more comedic role as a restless aspiring actor named Edward in A Different Man. Plus, costars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande may have to hold space for Globe trophies, as they’re nominated for best actress in a musical or comedy film and best supporting actress in a motion picture, respectively.

How to Watch the Golden Globes

The 2025 Golden Globes ceremony will take place on Sunday, January 5, at the Beverly Hilton. CBS will broadcast the ceremony live at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on CBS and stream it on Paramount+ in the US.

Host Nikki Glaser is also nominated at the three-hour awards show, where she’ll contend for best performance in a stand-up comedy on TV. “Being nominated is such an afterthought. It would be like finding out you got a promotion at work when you’re about to have a baby or something,” she told VF, later adding, “Honestly, as a host, I’m like, It’s funnier if I lose. I’m going to have a moment after the award is given out, whether I win or lose, where I talk about it. Right? That’s a funnier moment.”

How to Stream the Golden Globes

Cord-cutters can livestream the 2025 Golden Globes on YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, FuboTV, DirecTV Stream, or Paramount+—but that latter option will only be available to those with the Showtime add-on. If you subscribe to Paramount+ but don’t pay for the plan that includes Showtime, you’ll have to catch all the drama on demand the following day. Those with the add-on or a CBS login, however, can stream the show live in the US. Many of these streaming platforms offer free trials, including Paramount+, which has a one-week trial for the Paramount+ With Showtime option.

Who You’ll See at the Golden Globes

In between awards for the best TV and film across comedy and drama, two industry icons will receive lifetime-achievement statues. Viola Davis is this year’s recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award for her contributions to film, while Ted Danson shall accept its TV counterpart, the Carol Burnett Award. Both honors will be bestowed at an untelevised function held two nights before the Globes ceremony, but the main event will play select clips from their speeches.

Davis will also be presenting an award. So will some of the year’s nominees, like The Substance’s Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, as well as Sing Sing’s Colman Domingo. The rest of the presenting lineup is expectedly buzzy and includes:
