These days, the quickest way to a successful acting career is not going drama school and not even being a nepo baby — it’s podcasting. Yes, GK Barry of Saving Grace fame is apparently transitioning to the silver screen. Or at least the small screen. And no, your eyes were not deceiving you, that was her in that opening scene of the new season of Netflix’s Missing You, the streamer’s latest Harlan Coben adaptation.
In the scene, Barry is seen in what appears to be your classic dead girlfriend montage. She smiles into the camera as she lies in bed, plays under a blanket, gazes over her shoulder and twirls her hair, as a male voiceover says, “I dream of you. Kissing you. Holding You. The feel of your skin against mine. I love you.” Meanwhile, a man with tied wrists is seen riding a horse — before promptly falling off. According to IMDb, Barry, who is credited under her real name, Grace Keeling, plays Vanessa. Vanessa, it later turns out, is – spoiler alert! – a foot cam girl who’s photograph is stolen and used in a catfishing scam.
While this is Barry’s first foray into acting, she is no stranger to being in front of a camera. Just last year, she made her first TV appearance in I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and she also became a regular panellist on Loose Women.
So, how did GK Barry end up in a Netflix show. Apparently, the answer is simple: they asked and she said yes.
“They approached my manager and said, ‘We’re doing this new Netflix show, and we’d love Grace to be a little part in it.’ And I thought, ‘Well, I’m not going to say no,’” she told Cosmopolitan, explaining that she filmed her cameo in a day back in September.
