Grinning broadly. he stopped and asked the pet’s companion, “Have you hijacked someone else’s pram, or is that your dog’s pram?” Charlotte and George, standing nearby, laughed along with their dad, seemingly proving that the concept of “dad jokes” isn’t restricted to the US.
As the owner confirmed that the baby buggy belonged to the pup, William laughed some more, repeating, “That’s their pram,” in seeming disbelief. “Have a wonderful Christmas,” he said to the woman—and, presumably, her canine charge—as he stepped away with his kids and proceeded to the chapel.
Though William was humorously nonplussed by the perambulated hound, this wasn’t the first time a member of the Wales family has been confronted with a dog on wheels. During a royal engagement in February 2023, Kate Middleton encountered Casper, a 10-year-old chihuahua who was also riding in a pushchair. According to a video posted to TikTok, Middleton crouched to pet the pup, saying, “That’s the way to live, isn’t it? Being pushed around.”
The Waleses are known dog lovers, caring for a cocker spaniel named Lupo until his passing in 2020. The following year, the family took in Orla, another cocker spaniel given to them by Kate’s brother, James Middleton. While Orla reportedly walks around on her own power, the dog does enjoy one special privilege: according to a bystander who chatted with the prince during a royal engagement in October, he “said that his little dog sleeps on the bed with them at night, with him and Kate.”
