Last year, Those Who Remain developer Camel 101 unveiled its aquatic Survival Horror title Beneath, which is still in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox One Series and PC via Steam. While the game will miss its original proposed release this year (with its release date having now been set to 2025, as a result), the developers do have a new gameplay trailer for those looking to get into the game when it eventually releases.
The gameplay trailer for Beneath highlights combat sequences, offering a glimpse of the action and variety of battles awaiting players. Along with the visuals, the trailer teases cryptic clues to the game’s story, which is still yet to be fully revealed.
What we do know is that Beneath casts you as veteran deep-sea diver Noah Quinn, who after discovering a complex of five underwater science stations, finds something in that complex beyond imagination. Faced with no viable escape, Quinn must take it upon himself to try and stop the cosmic horror that’s looking to break out and escape to the surface.
If that wasn’t enough, throughout all of this, you’ll also have to contend with Quinn’s mental state. On the brink of collapse, you’ll have to avoid succumbing to madness if you ever hope to reach the surface again.
