Act II of Lovecraftian Action-Roguelike ‘Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef’ Out Now [Trailer]

Developer The Fine Arc and publisher First Break Labs have released their “gory and grotesque” Act II for their Lovecraftian action-roguelike Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef. The dungeon crawler was released into Early Access on Steam back in April, with the plan to remain in the service for 6-10 months.

Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef takes place in the 1920s, where luck has abandoned you, leaving you gripped by debt and entangled by the local gangster, Mr. Blackwood. Your path veers to the accursed seaside town of Innsmouth, where a hidden treasure is rumored to lie within Devil Reef. Your hope is to use the treasure to erase all debt and appease Mr. Blackwood.

However, what you thought would be an easy treasure hunt turns fast as you venture deeper into Devil Reef. The once-promising labyrinth reveals its sinister nature. Corridors contort, and eldritch horrors multiply, presenting a daunting challenge.

Luckily, you don’t have to face it alone. Up to 4 players can join in online co-op in Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef as you immerse yourself in pixel-art graphics and atmospheric soundscapes that pay homage to the golden era of 90s gaming. Amass gold, utilize arcane scrolls and incantations, and wield an arsenal of upgradeable weapons to keep otherworldly threats at bay.

Act II of Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef sees players descend even further into Hydra’s Hollow, exploring an ever-expanding realm with new corridors and new creatures. You’ll be taking on Mother Hydra, a grotesque boss inspired by classic Lovecraftian mythos. To get to her, you’ll need to brave magma-laden caverns and halt the terrors conjured by the Esoteric Priests’ dark rituals.
