Despite Ghostface arriving in Mortal Kombat 1 just last week, things might not bode well for future DLC for the bloody fighter after the Khaos Reigns expansion. Purportedly, further DLC might be in jeopardy.
According to r/MortalKombatleaks user _FateUnknown_, who has been correct in the past regarding the reveal of information about Mortal Kombat content, NetherRealm has decided to scrap a third Kombat pack of DLC characters and a second story expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 due to the poor sales of the Khaos Reigns expansion, and the expansion’s overall negative reception due to lack of content for its price.
Further on in the thread, _FateUnknown_ states that while additional content has been cancelled, a kameo fighter or two “might make it” later on, as work had already been done on them.
This isn’t the first time that Mortal Kombat 1 has faced criticism by fans and their wallets. Last year’s Seasonal Fatalities received backlash from fans for NetherRealm charging $10 for the Halloween fatality alone. NetherRealm pivoted and made the entire bundle of three Fatalities available for $10, with those having bought the Halloween Fatality being given the additional Fatalities at no extra cost.
Obviously, none of this has been verified by Warner Bros, NetherRealm or Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon. Making things even more interesting is the fact that _FateUnknown_’s Reddit account has been deleted.
Meanwhile, we’re still waiting on the final two guest fighters to arrive, with the T-1000 featuring the voice and likeness of actor Robert Patrick, and Conan the Barbarian, featuring the likeness of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Neither character’s release date has been confirmed.
