‘Tarot’ Filmmakers Spenser Cohen, Anna Halberg Signed by Grandview

EXCLUSIVE: Directing and screenwriting duo Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg have inked with Grandview for representation.

Cohen and Halberg directed Screen Gems’ Tarot this past spring which grossed $50M off an $8M production cost — 62% of that from offshore.

The twosome were the first selection for Screen Gems’ directing incubator, where they wrote, directed, and produced their short film / proof of concept, Blink, for the Sony label. This led to Tarot which they wrote and directed.

They most recently closed a deal to write and direct You Take Care Now based on their original short story for Universal with Atomic Monster and Blumhouse producing.

Their original spec script Distant was bought and made by Amblin and is currently awaiting a 2024 release; Will Speck and Josh Gordon directed with Anthony Ramos and Naomi Scott starring.

Cohen also wrote Roland Emmerich’s Moonfall starring Patrick Wilson and Halle Berry. Additionally, they have the upcoming Netflix movie House/Maid coming up with Alice Braga and Sarah Gadon starring.

During the last year they also wrote The Wand for Amblin and sold their original sci-fi thriller Raindrop to Amazon Studios. On the TV side they’re currently in post on Ballistic for Automatik with Jennifer Carpenter starring. Cohen and Halberg are also known for having written Extinction which was released on Netflix in 2018, starring Michael Pena and Lizzy Caplan, and in 2016 their original pilot Stay was shot for Freeform which Jon Turtletaub directed.

Cohen and Halberg continued to be repped by CAA and Yorn Levine.
