Few TV actors enjoy such a sizable and devoted following as Jared Padalecki.
And we’ve got some exciting news for the Supernatural alum’s many fans!
According to a new report from Deadline, Padalecki has re-upped his first-look development deal with CBS Studios.
He first entered a contract with the studio in 2022.
That deal led to the development of the CW series Walker, which was canceled last year despite being the network’s most-watched show.
A prequel series entitled Walker: Independence, on which Padalecki served as executive producer, was also given the ax.
These days, Padalecki is developing a Fire Country spinoff, which is probably part of his new first-look deal.
Fire Country Season 3 will premiere on October 18, and Padalecki will play a surfing SoCal firefighter named Camden in a three-episode arc.
He’s expected to reprise that role in the upcoming project, which currently goes by the working title of Fire Country: Surfside.
Bosch: Legacy Will End With Season 3
In other news, viewers will soon be forced to bid adieu to Titus Welliver’s beloved private investigator Harry Bosch.
It was announced today that Bosch: Legacy will conclude its run on Amazon Prime with its upcoming third season.
“For 10 years, Bosch and Bosch: Legacy have been two of our most defining series for Prime Video, Freevee and Amazon MGM Studios,” Vernon Sanders, Head of Television at Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement.
“They are a testament to the enduring power of the storytelling universe that Michael Connelly built for the fans.
But it’s not all bad news for Bosch fans.

Patricia Arquette to Star In Murdaugh Murder Series For Hulu
Hulu announced today that Particia Arquette is set to star in the streamer’s upcoming limited series about Alex Murdaugh, the South Carolina lawyer who murdered his wife and son in 2021.
Arquette will play Alex’s late wife Maggie Murdaugh.
It won’t be Arquette’s first time playing a murder victim for Hulu.
She previously portrayed the mother of Gypsy Rose Blanchard in the streamer’s 2019 series The Act.
No premiere date has been announced for the new series, which is tentatively titled The Murdaugh Murders.
Dancing With the Stars Contestant Anna Delvey Demands Apology From The View Hosts
Speaking of true crime, remember Anna Delvey?
She was the so-called “fake heiress” who conned New York’s socialites and inspired the 2022 Netflix limited series Inventing Anna.
This week, it was announced that Delvey has been cast on Dancing With the Stars, and the hosts of The View slammed the decision on the grounds that the Russian swindler is a convicted felon.
The situation prompted Delvey to defend herself on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“While you are entitled to your own opinions. you should at least get your facts straight.
“I served my time and paid everyone back in full 3+ years ago. Looking forward to your on-air correction.”
In an otherwise identical statement to The New York Post, Delvey added:
“Stay nasty ladies, but don’t forget to vote September 17th!”
Delvey might be angry, but DWTS producers must be loving the free publicity!
NFL to Stream Rare Friday Game on Peacock
We have good news and bad news for fans of the NFL.
We’ll start with the good: football is back! But the bad news is that fans will once again be forced to shell out for subscription-based streaming services if they hope to watch every game.
Yes, for folks outside of the Philadelphia and Green Bay markets, tonight’s Eagles-Packers game (which will be played in Rio de Janeiro) can only be caught on Peacock.
The streamer’s deal with the NFL began with last season’s Chiefs-Dolphins wild card matchup.
That was the most-streamed event in history, but at 23 million, its audience was still on the small side for a playoff game.
It was a controversial move then, and it’s no more popular now. Peacock is offering an introductory rate to new subscribers — $4.99 for the first four months when you use the promo code “TGIF” — but the move is unlikely to cushion the blow for disgruntled fans.
Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show Cuts Down to Four New Episodes Per Week
And, in another reminder of the industry-wide contraction impacting broadcast television these days, Jimmy Fallon‘s Tonight Show will no longer feature new episodes on Fridays.
Fallon used to shoot two episodes on Thursday, one of which would air on Friday.
NBC switched to Friday reruns for the summer, and now it looks as though the move will be permanent.
The world of late night has been hit hard by the decline in linear viewership, and most of the content churned out by Fallon and associates is viewed in snippets on YouTube and social media.
Cuts at NBC have been rampant lately, with the network even going so far as to eight-six Seth Meyers’ house band.
Fortunately, it doesn’t look like Fallon’s partnership with the Roots will be coming to an end anytime soon.
