‘The Inbetweeners’ Star Joe Thomas Teases Third Movie Set In Las Vegas

Time to pack your briefcase, the boys could be heading back out on tour.

The Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas has said that he and co-stars James Buckley (Jay), Simon Bird (Will), and Blake Harrison (Neil) would consider reuniting for a third movie.

He told the Always Be Comedy podcast that the idea had been discussed in “various forms and all of us feel like it would be nice.”

“We’re all still around, we’re all still in each other’s lives. We all still like each other. And if it was something that came up, I think we would want to do it,” Thomas said.

“A movie, I think works with the right idea. It would be challenging to do another series, just because of the timeline. But with the film, there are all sorts of options.”

Thomas said a stag do, also known as a bachelor party, could be the ideal vehicle for a reunion, adding that Las Vegas would be an interesting venue for the boys to reunite.

“It would need to be about blokes, I think,” he said. “And there’s something about the adult world and how much more complicated it is than the world of adolescence.”

He added: “A film can be a special occasion. A film is about a disruption to normality, whereas the sitcom is about what normality is like. A film is a story with an ending. Whereas a sitcom is more like going down the pub with a friend who’s funny, and it’s just open-ended.”

The Inbetweeners phenomenon started out as a TV series on Channel 4’s E4 and moved to the big screen in 2011 courtesy of Film4. The original movie grossed $88.9M worldwide, while the 2014 sequel made $63.9M.

The story of four sex-obsessed adolescents was created by Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, and housed at their production outfit, Bwark Productions.
