Emeraude Toubia, Gregg Sulkin, Halston Sage & Jaime Pressly Join Sony International Rom-Com ‘The Pet Nup’

EXCLUSIVE: Sony Pictures International Productions and Mucho Mas Media are in development on The Pet Nup, an original rom-com to be directed by Elaine del Valle (Midnight Hustle). Cast for the pic will include Emeraude Toubia (With Love), Gregg Sulkin (Runaways), Halston Sage (Dark Phoenix) and Emmy winner Jaime Pressly (My Name Is Earl).

Scripted by Tate Hanyok (Sex Appeal), the film’s logline is as follows: While a recently divorced couple navigates new life and love apart, the arrangement in their “Pet-Nup” forces them to extremes as they fight for custody of the one thing in their life that can’t be split in two: their dog.

Javier Chapa will produce for Mucho Mas Media (The Long Game). Phillip Braun will exec produce for Mucho Mas, along with Sherrese Clarke Soares for Harbourview Equity.

Watch on Deadline

Previously starring in Gloria Calderón Kellett’s Prime Video series With Love and Freeform’s Shadowhunters, Toubia will soon be seen in the title role of Felipe Vargas’ horror pic Rosario, also starring alongside Gina Rodriguez and Karla Souza in the upcoming comedy, Like It Used to Be.

Best known for a role in Hulu’s Marvel show Runaways, Sulkin’s upcoming slate includes Tyler Perry’s Six Triple Eight, which releases on Netflix later this year, as well as the series The Kollective and the spider thriller Arachnid, on which we were first to report.

Sage’s past film credits include The List, Daughter of the Bride, Dark Phoenix, Late Night, Before I Fall and Paper Towns, to name just a few. She’s also known for starring on Fox’s Prodigal Son, which aired for two seasons.

Garnering an Emmy for her work on the hit NBC sitcom My Name Is Earl, Pressly has more recently been seen starring on shows like Mom and Welcome to Flatch. Notable film credits include The Re-Education of Molly Singer, I Love You, Man and Joe Dirt.

Most recently directing the Tubi original Midnight Hustle, Del Valle also wrote and directed Brownsville Bred, a YA family drama sharing her personal coming-of-age story. She is a WarnerMedia 150 Artist, Sundance Writer & Director Lab alumna, Shondaland Director finalist and two-time Lynn Shelton and Imagen Impact award nominee.
