Jessica Alba Launches Production Company Lady Spitfire

EXCLUSIVE: After co-founding and building a leading consumer goods brand with The Honest Company, actress and entrepreneur Jessica Alba is looking to do the same in the film and TV production space with the launch of Lady Spitfire.

Alba has partnered with producer Tracey Nyberg in Lady Spitfire which aims to work collaboratively with diverse artists and creators in producing boundary-pushing, high-quality content, focusing on female driven, culturally diverse and Latino inspired stories.

“I’m thrilled that in this stage of my life and career, I get to create and build, and Lady Spitfire is part of this next chapter,” Alba said. “Reimagining and redefining how women and minorities show up in the world through great stories is my passion. I believe that my children and the next generation shouldn’t have to face the same barriers as I have. Inspired by the heroes whose shoulders I humbly stand on, I feel it is my duty to make it easier for dreams to be realized and potential to be met for women and minorities, particularly those in my community.”

Under the Lady Spitfire banner, Alba is currently shooting the second season of home improvement series Honest Renovations at Roku, which she created, executive produces and hosts with Lizzy Mathis. Alba next stars in and executive produces the Netflix movie Trigger Warning, which is slated to premiere this summer, and the upcoming sports feature Flash Before the Bang.

Most recently at Aggregate Films, Nyberg produced the Golden Globe-nominated Apple limited series Lessons in Chemistry, as well as the Netflix feature Your Place Or Mine. Before that she worked on several projects with Mythology Entertainment – Michael Bay’s Ambulance, Eli Roth’s The House With A Clock In Its Walls, and the Searchlight breakout Ready or Not. While at Temple Hill, she Executive Produced Lasse Hallstrom’s box office hit Safe Haven, drama The Longest Ride, and she shepherded the pilot for ABC’s Revenge.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join forces with Jessica,” says Nyberg. “Working with talented creators to entertain audiences – whether it’s in film or television – has always been what motivates me. And we are in a unique moment to bring diverse perspectives to a wide audience – the specificity of these stories is their strength and what will make them resonate.”

Alba, a Golden Globe nominee for James Cameron’s Dark Angel, has made more than 25 feature films, including Fantastic Four and Sin City, that have earned a combined box office total of $800 million-plus. In TV, she and Gabrielle Union recently headlined and executive produced the action drama series, L.A.’s Finest. Additionally, Alba is author of the New York Times bestselling book The Honest Life and co-author of A Bear to Share.

Lady Spitfire will be repped by UTA, which represents Alba in all areas. She will continue to be represented by 3 Arts Entertainment, Sloane Offer Weber & Dern and Full Coverage Communications.
