Canadian PM Pays Emotional Tribute To Former Classmate Matthew Perry

Justin Trudeau has joined those paying emotional tribute to Matthew Perry, following his death on Saturday.

The Canadian Prime Minister went to school with the former Friends star, and he remembered their young days together in his post on social media.

Trudeau wrote:

“Matthew Perry’s passing is shocking and saddening.

“I’ll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them.

“Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved – and you will be missed.”

Perry was reportedly found in his jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home on Saturday after first responders were called to the scene on Saturday afternoon. There is no report of foul play, and no drugs were found.

Perry attended Rockcliffe Park Public school in Ottowa, Ontario, with Trudeau, and previously revealed that he had joined some other friends in once beating up the future political leader.

He told Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2017:

“I was reminded of this by my friend Chris Murray, that we actually beat up Justin Trudeau.

“We both beat him up. I think he was excelling at a sport that we weren’t, so it was pure jealous. So we beat him up.

“I’m not bragging about this, this is terrible. I was a stupid kid.”

Trudeau took no offence at this report, saying on social media at the time:

“I’ve been giving it some thought, and you know what, who hasn’t wanted to punch Chandler?

“How about a rematch Matthew Perry?”

Fans of Perry have joined in remembering the star, who, with his Friends castmates, starred in a comedy that defined an era and continue to be enjoyed across the world.
