Hailey Bieber’s ‘Mirror Glaze’ Nails Are The Glazed Donut Remix We’ve Been Waiting For

Hailey Bieber’s nails deserve their own Instagram account. She has served up glazed donut nails, lime sherbert French nails and even a mismatched manicure with aplomb. Now there’s ‘mirror glaze’ nails to add to the laundry list of Hailey Bieber‘s manicure inspiration. And, trust us, this trend is destined to raise your mani game this autumn without taking you completely out of your sheer, milk bath comfort zone.

So what exactly are ‘mirror glaze’ nails? The inspiration for the look is seemingly exactly as it sounds: an antique mirror with silver on the inside of the glass.

In an Instagram post on 8 September, Hailey’s long-term nail artist Zola Ganzorigt coined the term ‘mirror glaze’ nails to describe the manicure she created for Hailey’s current trip to New York. Despite the city’s heatwave, Hailey can be seen pairing her new nails with an equally transeasonal plaid blazer that’s serving up seriously strong shoulders.

While glazed donut nails are essentially a sheer milky white hue, mirror glaze nails are a more silvery, grey pearl iteration – but with the same iridescent, frosted shine, which makes this nail look a curious combination of familiar but also brand new.

In the same way that we retire our neon swimwear in favour of cashmere jumpers in neutral tones at this time of year, this manicure says we’ve traded summer’s fun serpent and tortoiseshell manicure for something more pared-back and sophisticated.

And while mirror glaze nails are certainly darker and moodier than poolside-ready milk bath nails, they are still sheer enough that you can see Hailey’s natural nails underneath. All of which is to say, mirror glaze nails are perfect for those of us who aren’t quite ready to embrace the deeper, opaque end of the nail varnish spectrum with bordeaux or even latte nails. Well, not just yet anyway.
