Ever since Meghan Markle started dating Prince Harry back in 2016, her mother Doria Ragland has kept a pretty low profile. Ragland, a yoga teacher and social worker, spoke publicly about the couple for the first time as a part of their 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan. Though she has been heavily involved in raising her grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, since the family relocated to California, she’s apparently been finding some time to have fun on her own. On Saturday, she was spotted at a gala celebrating the charity This Is About Humanity, where she posed alongside Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner.
The event, hosted at actor Henry Winkler’s house in Los Angeles, was celebrating the 5th anniversary of the charity, which works to raise awareness about families separated at the US-Mexico border. Saturday’s party also honored Lauren Sánchez for her financial support. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the fiancée of Jeff Bezos made a $1 million contribution. In a speech, Sánchez called Bezos her “teammate” and said, “Jeff, I just want to say thank you for inspiring me to go out into the world and make a difference.”
She also told a story about a journalism teacher who inspired her when she was younger. “Each one of us can be the person who inspires someone else to chase their dreams no matter what obstacles they face,” she said, per People. “Just as my teacher saw past my struggles and saw potential in a very lost girl, you too have the opportunity to change a life for it is in caring for people that we haven’t even met, and recognizing the inherent worth of every person that we can embrace our humanity.”
The event was not Ragland’s first solo night out of the summer. In July, she was spotted at a Beverly Hills event for the artist Honor Titus. She also accompanied Meghan and Harry to the Ms. Foundation Awards in New York City this May, and was with the couple when they were chased by paparazzi.
