Ryan Reynolds pulled a move he doesn’t often do for his wife Blake Lively: share an Instagram post with essentially no trolling in it. For her 36th birthday, Reynolds posted a carousel of romantic shots of the couple together and, in his caption, reflected on the depth of his love for his wife of more than 10 years.
“The only thing irrevocably mine in the world is the love and appreciation and awe I feel for this person,” he wrote. “Witnessing her life is something I couldn’t take for granted if I tried. And believe me, I try. Happy Birthday, @blakelively. You hung the damn moon.”
The tribute complemented last year’s, where he also shared some dazzling personal photos of Lively and marveled over the way she has changed his life. “Happy Birthday, @blakelively,” he wrote for the 2022 tribute. “You’re spectacular. I’m not sure if you were born or invented. Also, thank you for urging me to leave the house every now and again. ❤️”
Those two posts stand in stark contrast to previous years’ birthday tributes.
In 2021, Reynolds trolled his wife by sharing an Instagram Story of him with Mariah Carey in a TikTok, calling it his “favorite thing to ever happen on August 25.”
And in 2019, Reynolds posted arguably his most viral birthday tribute, where he purposely shared unflattering photos of Lively. He paired them with a simple “Happy Birthday, @blakelively” caption. This year’s post is a 180 indeed.
