Emma Watson Shows Off Her Style In a Rare Selfie On Instagram

On Friday night, Emma Watson shared a rare selfie on her Instagram Stories, immediately after sharing a video clip of some adorable otters. The movie star offered a glimpse of her summer style in the pic, which looks like it was taken outside in a grassy park. Watson is wearing a rich terracotta-colored suede jacket with silver hardware snaps over a khaki knit turtleneck.

The Little Women actress accessorized with a wide brimmed brown hat and a pair of thick gold hoop earrings. Her honey-blonde hair was down in beach-y waves around her shoulders. Over one pocket, she added a horse emoji.

To celebrate her 33rd birthday in April, Watson shared some more professional photos with a few more comments than usual on her private life to mark the occasion.

“Thank you to the witches in my coven who were so pivotal in helping me arrive at where and who I am now,” she wrote in the caption of one gorgeous black and white portrait. “You are my Avengers and you inspire me and kick ass. It takes a village, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”

Last month in an interview with the Financial Times, Watson shared why she took a five year break from acting after finishing work on Greta Gerwig’s film adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s famous novel.

“I wasn’t very happy, if I’m being honest, I think I felt a bit caged,” she said. “The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over. To stand in front of a film and have every journalist be able to say, ‘How does this align with your viewpoint?’ It was very difficult to have to be the face and the spokesperson for things where I didn’t get to be involved in the process.”

Watson continued, “I was held accountable in a way that I began to find really frustrating, because I didn’t have a voice, I didn’t have a say. And I started to realize that I only wanted to stand in front of things where if someone was going to give me flak about it, I could say, in a way that didn’t make me hate myself, ‘Yes, I screwed up, it was my decision, I should have done better.’”
