Jennifer Hudson Celebrates Son David’s Graduation: “My Baby Is a High Schooler Now”

Jennifer Hudson is a proud mom to a high schooler! On Saturday, the talk show host celebrated her 13-year-old son, David Otunga Jr., on Instagram as he graduated from middle school.

Hudson shared two posts featuring photos and videos from her son’s big day, which included a plane with a banner that read, “Congratulations DOJ! And Class of 2023!” The Oscar-winner’s first post featured a candid snap of her adjusting David’s robe as he held his diploma. “My baby Graduated, Yal !!!!!! DOJ!!!!!!!”

For her second post, Hudson assembled a carousel of photos and videos from the day, which included shots of her beaming alongside David, and pics of her family showing up to support her son. “It’s official !!!” she wrote. “My baby is a high schooler now! We had such a wonderful day celebrating with family and friends. I am sooo proud of you DOJ! Team Jhud can yal help give DOJ a huge congratulations!”

Hudson’s fans and famous friends were quick to show David lots of love in the comments. Viola Davis wrote, “Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️.” Meanwhile, Yvette Nicole Brown added, “Time has FLOWN! Congrats to #DOJ!!!”

The 41-year-old shares David with her ex-fiancé David Otunga. The two split in November 2017 after 10 years together. At the time, Hudson filed an emergency order of protection from him, which she later dropped. Otunga was also in attendance at David’s graduation.

The former actor and WWE star posted a carousel of photos from the day on his Instagram, including a pic featuring him, Hudson, and David. “Can you believe he’s going to be a freshman?!” he wrote. “Where does the time go?! Son, I’m so proud of your scholastic achievements, but I’m even more proud of the wonderful man you are becoming. Congratulations! #DOJGraduation.”
