Last year, Rolling Loud New York removed drill rappers Ron Suno, Sha Ek, and 22Gz from the bill at the request of the NYPD a day before the festival was set to begin. The law enforcement agency claimed that there would be a “higher risk of violence” if they took the stage.
Rolling Loud fielded a similar NYPD intervention in 2019, removing 22Gz, Pop Smoke, and three other drill artists from the bill. The department claimed the festival had to comply if it wanted to return to New York again. Following a California installment earlier this month, Rolling Loud is slated to return to Miami in late July, but a lineup has yet to be announced.
