The Pale Horse rides again, courtesy of The Folio Society

The Pale Horse is one of Agatha Christie’s darkest and most gothic mysteries, and is arguably the best among many great novels by this author. Today, the book is being republished in a special format by The Folio Society, complete with illustrated plates by the East Anglian illustrator Olivia Daw. To give you a flavour of what’s in store, below you’ll find a special unboxing of this deluxe printing of the novel.

First published in 1961, The Pale Horse features a deathbed confession and the murder of an elderly priest. As Mark Easterbrook begins to piece together evidence connecting the two events, he uncovers a web of secrets — and what is the significance of three strange women who live in a converted old inn called The Pale Horse? The book was also turned into a well regarded TV dramatisation in 2020.
