Serena Williams‘s daughter, Olympia, is ready for the Met Gala at age five. In a video shared on Williams’s Instagram, Olympia is wearing the iconic fuzzy pink and black ombré cape her mom wore to the 2021 Met Gala.
Despite being a bit small for it at such a young age, Olympia is wearing the cape, not the other way around. The video, which you can see here, shows Olympia in a closet with the garment on and her hair in a high updo. The video is set to the song “Made You Look” by Meghan Trainor, and Williams wrote in the post’s caption, “Like mama like daughter. @olympiaohanian Met Gala next?”
At the Met Gala in September 2021, the tennis legend wore the statement piece with a sparkly silver Gucci bodysuit embellished with stars.
“It’s a lot,” Williams told Vogue of her look at the time.
Serena Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, cofounder of Reddit, welcomed Olympia in 2017. They have been married since 2017 and regularly gush about each other to the press, while Williams regularly posts cute photos and videos of her daughter on social media. “Alexis doesn’t dim my light. He doesn’t try to dim my light,” Williams told Allure in 2019. “He puts me in the light, even if I don’t want to be. He pushes me to further points I never thought about. It always was something that I could see in some relationships—my light would be dimmer. Now I feel like I can shine really bright and still do everything that I want to do.”
Olympia may not have attended the Met Gala yet, but she isn’t a stranger to red-carpet events and fashion. Last April she twinned with her mom in pink Balmain dresses. And in November 2021 the mother-daughter duo wore matching outfits to the King Richard premiere.
