But she wasn’t the only attendee turning heads, with Kylie Jenner arriving a few moments later in a beautiful LBD… with a twist. The twist being a replica lion head attached to the dress’s bodice.
“BEAUTY AND THE BEAST” she captioned an image of herself on Instagram. “Thank you Daniel Roseberry and Schiaparelli for such a special morning. Wow I loved wearing this faux art creation constructed by hand using manmade materials. Beautiful beautiful”.
But, as is the way with many of the world’s most statement fashion moments, the look has caused a lot of contention.
“This is highly inappropriate, prop or not this should never have been designed”, commented one of her followers, while another suggested that the look was “practically glamourising animal cruelty.”
Explaining the immensely intricate process behind the design – which replicated three other looks unveiled on the runway modelled by Naomi Campbell, Irina Shayk and Shalom Harlow – Schiaparelli Creative Director Daniel Roseberry, who has been at the helm since 2019, took to Instagram to reveal the meaning behind the concept.
“3 animals sculpted and embroidered by hand, celebrating the glory of nature and guarding the woman who wears it. The leopard, the lion, and the she wolf. All from Dante’s Inferno.”
