Rupert Grint Predicts a “Wednesday Boom” as His Daughter Shares Name with the Netflix Character

It seems that Rupert Grint has always been ahead of the curve! His 2-year-old daughter, who he shares with longtime girlfriend Georgia Groome, is named Wednesday, which is particularly on trend for 2023 in light of the hit Netflix show “Wednesday” starring Jenna Ortega. “I’m glad we kind of got in there,” he said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Jan. 9. “There’s going to be a boom, a Wednesday boom. It’s a good name, I stand by it.”

While “princess crazy” Wednesday has spent much of her life in the US due to Grint filming Apple TV+’s “Servant” in Philadelphia, the family have moved back to the UK. However, he admits that his daughter has been struggling to adjust to life back home as she’s “obsessed with Target.” The US store hasn’t made it’s way to the UK, so it seems Wednesday will have to get used to the local Tesco instead!

Grint also reveals the very unusual first car he bought after passing his driving test. In actual fact, it wasn’t a car but an ice cream van. “It’s something I’d always wanted to have. It’s nostalgic, it’s the music, it’s the most impractical first car because it has one seat, and the rest of it is all freezer,” he said. “It was my everyday car for a while. I did feel a little bit kind of creepy driving an ice cream van with no ice cream in it.”

Although, there was one occasion that Grint used it properly and stocked it full of ice cream. “I took it on the last day of filming “Deathly Hallows Part 2.” They had like a mariachi band and I brought the van to sell ice cream to the crew,” he said.

With Grint predicting the name Wednesday would take off soon after he named his daughter, perhaps we could all be driving around in ice cream vans in the not-too-distant future!
