Morpheus8, the laser facial treatment loved by Kim Kardashian, now has a version for your vagina

Facials come in many different forms. At one end, there’s the relaxing cleansing massages and at the other, there’s Morpheus8. The treatment, which uses microneedling as well as fractional radio frequency energy, gained recognition for its ability to smooth, firm and totally reshape the skin, combatting uneven texture, wrinkles, laxity and scars in just a couple of sessions.

For this reason, it has a throng of celebrity advocates, including Kim Kardashian, who posted about the treatment on her Instagram page. “This is a game changer!!! I did Morpheus laser to tighten my stomach,” she wrote.

It’s also known for being pretty painful (even Kim noted, “I think this is my fave laser but it’s painful lol but worth it!”), so when the company announced a version designed for the vagina, Morpheus8 V,  which is part of a revolutionary treatment regime for feminine wellness called Empower RF, we collectively grimaced and quickly crossed our legs.

While you may be wondering why anyone would want to pursue smoother vagina skin, the new treatment promises much, much more than that and is arguably worth a few minutes of discomfort (hey, no pain, no gain, right?).

Morpheus8 V is less of an aesthetic procedure, and more geared towards addressing medical issues that can arise as a result of childbirth, menopause or general poor health. “It’s a state of the art new technology for the vagina” explains Dr Angela Rai, women’s wellness expert and founder of The Medical Salon. “Morpheus8 V can help with many conditions including vaginal wall laxity, vaginal dryness, weak pelvic floor muscles, incontinence,  sexual functioning  lichen sclerosis. It has also been shown to help with recurrent vaginal infections such as candida.”

So how does it work? In a similar way to the face and body version, Morpheus8 V uses effective bipolar radiofrequency technology with micro pins to stimulate cell renewal and stimulate collagen and elastin production. “Combined, this tightens the vaginal skin, rejuvenates the vaginal lining and improves function,” says Dr Rai. “It is a safe and effective procedure with minimal risks, downtime or side effects, and it has been FDA cleared and declared suitable for all skin types.”

Depending on each individual patient, Dr Rai suggested combining Morpheus8 V with the other non-surgical advancements in the Empower RF portfolio, each of which is designed to improve vaginal health. First up is V Tone,  a gentle, FDA approved, intravaginal electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), which rehabilitates weak pelvic floor muscles. Next, Forma V, which uses deep heating from radiofrequency internally and externally to remodel tissue.

Each sessions lasts around 30 minutes, during which time the practitioner will target areas of concerns inside and outside of the vagina. And in terms of pain? “The treatment isn’t as painful as it may seem,” assures Dr Rai. “The walls of the vagina don’t feel pain as much as other areas on the body (designed for childbirth!), and most patients say they feel a sensation but nothing compared to what they thought it might be.” Well, that’s a relief.
