Wednesday Addams series starring Catherine Zeta-Jones releases first look, and our inner teenage goth is screaming

Wednesday Addams was our alter-ego growing up, right? I mean, she sometimes still is – and so, we couldn’t be more excited to learn that the first look at the upcoming Addams Family spin-off titled Wednesday has been released!

A year after Netflix announced that the spooky series was in the works, we can see leading lady Jenna Ortega in full Wednesday Addams attire, including the famous long-plaited hair, black dress atop a sharp white blouse, and of course, sporting her famous sinister frown.

Jenna, who has also starred in Netflix’s You alongside Penn Badgley and the last Scream movie, looks perfect in character in the gloomy black and white image alongside her famous and equally dark and dreary on-screen family.

We can only hope that the new Tim Burton-directed series does justice to the iconic character, which has been the subject of many relatable memes.

The series also has big shoes to fill by staying true to Wednesday’s sombre legacy. It was in 1991 that the film The Addams Family was released, and it was in this very popular feature film, the stroppy teen Wednesday was played by Christina Ricci. The film was a supernatural dark comedy based on cartoons of the same name from the 1960s. But the new series, titled Wednesday, will be directed by the horror genius Tim Burton. And obviously, he’s enlisted an A-list cast that we are drooling over.
