The soft-blunt bob is a pretty, relaxed take on the classic cut for some gentle movement (and it’s so easy to maintain)

If you want a shoulder-baring haircut that’s as flirty as it is easy to wear, we’re in love with the soft-blunt bob.

There’s no denying it, we’re still bob-obsessed. Sure we’ve considered XXL butt-grazing lengths, but we keep coming back to how simple, foolproof and foxy a well-executed bob haircut is.

Of course, for the sake of variety, we like to play the field, which is why we’ve considered every bob length and shape, from cheek-length French-girl bobs, to shoulder-sweeping outgrown bobs and structured A-line bobs.

But our favourite rendition right now has to be the soft-blunt bob which we spotted on celeb hairstylist, Kristin Ess‘s Instagram.

She created it for her long-term client (and our low-key bob crush), Lucy Hale. Alongside looking phwooooooooooar, it’s the perfect entry level bob if you fancy for a change, since the length is not too short if you’re transitioning from a longer cut. And, if you’re already on #teambob, it’s a cute, relaxed shape that’s easy to maintain because the aesthetic is to deliberately look a little worn-in.

The soft-blunt bob cut is less harsh along the bottom, than a dead-straight sliced blunt bob, plus it gives the cut extra texture.

To keep the styling on point, like Kristin, this shape works well with ultra loose waves which give pretty movement, and extra definition around the cheeks, but without looking too ‘done’.

As for products to help you along, we’re guessing that Kristin tapped up her own haircare range, to achieve that movement and ‘sexture’. The Kristin Ess Instant Lift Spray (£8) is effectively a volumising mousse but in mist form to add some extra oomf and the Working Texture Loose Styling Powder (£7.33) adds even more root-lift and helps to create and hold beautiful undone texture. Yum.
