Rihanna is now America’s youngest self-made billionaire woman – taking the title from Kim Kardashian

Rihanna is now America’s youngest self-made billionaire woman with a jaw-dropping worth of $1.4 billion (we recommend not looking at your bank statement after hearing this news). At the age of 34, the Umbrella singer has made Forbes’ annual list of America’s richest self-made women for the third year in a row and ranks an impressive 21st overall.

She is the only billionaire on the list under the age of 40, and has taken the title of the youngest billionaire on the annual list from none other than the SKIMS queen herself, Kim Kardashian (who turned 41 this year).

However, here at GLAMOUR, we do not pit women against each other, and we can only praise Kim for her entrepreneurial and entertainment endeavours, which cements her position at number 16 on the list with a staggering $1.8 billion worth. Cue Kris Jenner‘s voice: “You’re doing amazing, sweetie!”

Meanwhile, as well as her music career, Rihanna has accumulated her wealth from her business ventures such as Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin and Savage X Fenty.

In a recent report from Bloomberg, it was said that Savage X Fenty lingerie company, which Rihanna owns 30 per cent, was in the process of working with advisors on an initial public offering. This could value the company at $3 billion upwards.

Impressively, she also owns 50 per cent of Fenty Beauty which launched in 2017, and brought in an eye-watering $550 million in revenue in 2020. French fashion company LVMH owns the other half of the company.

However, back in 2019, Rihanna humbly admitted that the main focus of her businesses was not about making money, telling The New York Times: “I never thought I’d make this much money, so a number is not going to stop me from working.”

Last year, when it was calculated that Rihanna had officially become a billionaire, she hilariously explained that “it was real weird getting congratulations texts from people for money”.

She added to Access Hollywood: “It made sense when I realized that it was inspiring to people that they felt like this is something that they could achieve knowing where I’ve come from. Knowing my humble beginnings, they see the possibility, and it gives them hope. That made me feel really happy.”

Things have been even sweeter for Rihanna as of late, as she welcomed her first child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky in May. “Rihanna is doing well. They are very excited to be parents,” a source close to Rihanna and A$AP Rocky told People on May 19. “Rihanna is already a wonderful mom.” What a perfect family!

Meanwhile, Diane Hendricks, the co-founder And Chairman of ABC Supply, one of the largest wholesale distributors of roofing, siding and windows in America, has topped America’s richest self-made woman list.

Going back to the Kardashian clan’s financial successes in business, Kim’s half-sister Kylie Jenner was famously announced as Forbes’ youngest self-made billionaire in 2018. However, the make-up mogul’s net worth was recalculated and came to $600 million, prompting the publication to remove the title from her.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Kylie responded to the controversy by tweeting that she could “name a list of 100 things more important right now than fixating on how much money she has”. She added: “I am blessed beyond my years, i have a beautiful daughter, and a successful business, and i’m doing perfectly fine.”

Forbes list or not, we understand that the reevaluation of her finally ranking certainly does not take away from the blood, sweat and tears she has poured into her empire, and we can only congratulate all the ladies on the list for their incredible and inspiring successes. That’s a lot of female power right there!
