Sadie Sink opens up about Max’s fate in season 5 of Stranger Things

Warning: Major spoilers ahead!

Stranger Things Vol. 2 left us absolutely shocked following our binge over the weekend. There was so much for us to digest, most noticeably Max’s storyline (played by our brilliant GLAMOUR covergirl Sadie Sink) being left in a coma after nearly succumbing to a deadly fate at the gory hands of Vecna.

But surely she’ll survive for season 5, right? Right?! Well, unfortunately, we viewers won’t actually know that until the Duffer Brothers grace us with the final season. But you know who else doesn’t know much about Max’s fate? Sadie Sink, herself!

Yes, Sadie, who has fans campaigning for her to get an Emmy for her work on Stranger Things, actually has “no idea” whether she returns for the next season and even admitted that the script for the ninth episode of S4 said that “Max dies”. Noooo!

When asked if she had quizzed The Duffer Brothers on her character’s fate for season five, Sadie explained that the pair have been “very secretive”.

“We did have a conversation. They called me before I read the ninth episode because, in the script, it literally says that Max dies. So they called me beforehand and were like, ‘just warning you, this is in there, so you’re not like truly shocked.'”

Sadie added to Deadline: “I have no idea what’s coming in five and what that looks like. Max’s storyline is very up in the air, ’cause obviously, she’s in a coma, and Eleven can’t find her in the void. So who knows where she is and what state she’s in.”

The 20 year old actress also said that she has “no clue” when filming will begin on the fifth season but did not that the Duffer brothers would not rush the final outing for the beloved Netflix show.

“They wanna make the best final season that they could possibly make. Hopefully, we can get out there soon, but then also, I’m like, no, drag it out as long as you can. I don’t wanna have to leave,” she said.

As well as Max’s storyline, Vol.1 and 2 of Stranger Things S4 saw Hopper and Joyce finally get together, and Eleven reclaims her powers to battle Vecna – only for the gang to realise that the villainous creature is not done unleashing terror in Hawkins, and will soon make its grand return.
