A Sweet Escape?
Not for Blake Shelton or Gwen Stefani.
Neither of this musical stalwarts appear ready to go anywhere at all any time soon — at least not without the other person directly by his or her side.
On July 3, Shelton and Stefani celebrated one year together as a married couple… sounding as happy and as joyous together via social media as they have since the very first moment they fell in love.
In a post shared on Sunday, the country sensation thanked the pop star for saying yes to his proposal, emphasizing in his message said their first year of marriage had been the grandest of his life.
“Happy anniversary to the woman that makes my world go round,” he wrote.
“@gwenstefani, because of you, this year has been the best year of my life. I love you!!!! Thank you for saying yes!”
As you can see above and below, Shelton and Stefani each took followers behind the scenes of their summer 2021 nuptials along with these romantic tributes.
For her part, Stefani dropped some actual footage from their wedding — including the moment Blake lifted her veil and their first dance, writing as a caption to this video:
“1 year down, forever to go @blakeshelton.”
Stefani and Shelton grew close as coaches on The Voice.
The former split from Gavin Rossdale spilt in 2016 after 13 years of marriage, while the latter ended his marital relationship with Miranda Lambert a few months before Stefani became single.
“This is not the future we envisioned, and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately,” Blake and Miranda announced in a joint statement back then.
“We are real people with real lives, with real family, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
After dating for five years, Shelton popped the huge question to Stefani in October 2020 … with a gigantic six- to nine-carat round solitaire diamond.
On their big day, which took place on Shelton’s ranch in Oklahoma, Stefani donned a gown by Vera Wang — which featured a white bodice, miniskirt with tulle overlay and a full veil — for the ceremony.
The celebrities also wrote their own vows at the time.
Shelton touched on the unique and emotional nature of this decision in an interview last year with People Magazine.
“She took that really hard, took it to heart and talked about it all the time,” Blake told this publication of his newlywed’s vows.
“She was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m still working on it.’
“The thing that got to me was she spoke about my [late] brother and my dad as if she had known them almost. She didn’t make it seem that way, but it felt that way as she was speaking about them.
“She said she wished they were there and what kind of men she thinks they must’ve been. Man, it hit me. Like, I couldn’t believe how hard it hit me. I felt like at this point, I’ve kind of gotten calloused.
“I guess I’m not because that absolutely slayed me. It’s hard to even remember what else she even said. I’ll never forget that feeling.”
