At the Lucasfilms Studio Showcase during Star Wars Celebration on May 26, Disney celebrated all things Star Wars, George Lucas, and John Williams. During the event, which POPSUGAR was on-hand for, they presented exclusive footage from their Disney+ slate, giving the audience an inside look into upcoming shows, and honored legendary composer John Williams with an incredible performance.
First, they previewed “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” which is set to hit Disney+ on May 27 and will air throughout the summer. Then, they shared some exclusive details about “Andor,” the new series airing in August. They also gave a look at “Willow” — which isn’t part of the Star Wars universe, but adapts a different beloved Lucas property. Then, they shared insider details about three series coming in 2023: the third season of “The Mandalorian,” the new Ahsoka series, and “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” a brand-new show. The panel closed with surprise appearances from John Williams — who provided the scores to movies like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, “Jaws,” “E.T.” and more — and Harrison Ford, who announced the release date for the fifth Indiana Jones movie.
It’s a lot of exciting TV and movie news, so we’re breaking it all down ahead.
