Black Mirror fans: get excited. After years of speculation, it’s finally been confirmed that the darkly thought-provoking show will return, thanks to a brand-new deal with Netflix.
Variety reports that creator Charlie Brooker has finally reached an agreement between the streaming platform, his new production company Broke and Bones and the Banijay Group, who own the rights to Black Mirror – and casting for series six of the show is now underway.
The dystopian drama was put on hold for some time after Brooker and his creative partner Annabel Jones left production company House of Tomorrow – and the British producer cast doubt over it ever returning in 2020, when he admitted that he wondered if the twisted storylines would be well-received when the world was going through a pandemic.
He told Radio Times: “At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those. I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh.”
It seems that things have finally come together, and no doubt the next series of Black Mirror will be just as provocative as the others. Here’s everything we know about the show’s return…
What will season 6 of Black Mirror be about?
It’s said to be in the early stages, and plot lines are being kept top secret – but according to Variety‘s sources, each episode will be “even more cinematic in scope” than ever before, with “each instalment being treated as an individual film”. Oooh.
How many episodes of Black Mirror season 6 will there be?
Again, there’s no precise confirmation, but it’s said that there will be more episodes than season five, which only featured three.
Who will star in Black Mirror season 6?
While previous seasons of Black Mirror have featured star faces such as Miley Cyrus, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright and Bryce Dallas Howard, there’s no word as to who will be cast in the latest series – but conversations are happening, apparently. We’ll keep you posted.

It’ll probably be a while until the show airs, since it’s in the very early stages of production – and there’s no official release date as yet.
Is there a trailer?
We’re gonna sound like a broken record here, but no, sadly not yet – the show hasn’t even begun filming yet. Here’s hoping we’ll hear more from team Netflix soon…
