What Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ Dates Are Like 10 Years Into Marriage: They’re ‘Avid Homebodies’

One week after Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively served as co-chairs for the 2022 Met Gala, Us Weekly got details on what the couple’s private romance is like about 10 years into marriage and more than 10 years into dating. (The couple tied the knot on Sept. 9, 2012.) Reynolds and Lively keep their dates pretty low-key these days as the couple balances raising their three daughters James, 7; Inez, 5; and Betty, 2, with their packed careers.

“Blake and Ryan are avid homebodies,” a source said. “Their typical date night is in a restaurant alone or with friends.” That source added that Reynolds and Lively are spending more time in New York City, where they have an apartment, despite being based just north of the city in Bedford, NY.

“They still spend a good amount of time in Bedford, but have been coming into the city a lot more [for their businesses],” the insider said, pointing out that in addition to their acting careers, Reynolds runs Aviation Gin and Lively, who doesn’t drink, runs the non-alcoholic mixer brand Betty Buzz.

With the Met Gala, Reynolds was “wildly proud” of Lively’s work as co-chair. “They had an amazing night and a great time getting glammed up,” the source said. “It’s easy for him, a spray tan and a tux and that’s it! She puts a little more work into it obviously.”

Lively styles herself and has done so for years. She revealed recently she has “never” worked with a stylist.

She explained in March 2018 why she prefers to put her own looks together. “I just like it,” she told Women’s Wear Daily at the time. “I love design and I love fashion and it’s a way to be creative. In my job I get to be creative, but it’s over a period of time and so many other people are involved, whereas this is a beginning, middle and end, and I get to be creative and there’s an end date in the near future. It’s the same reason why I like doing my friends’ hair and makeup or cooking—you get to be creative and finish it. Whereas with my job you do it and then two years later it’s finished. It probably goes back to the control issues; it’s like, ‘Okay, I did it, I completed it, it’s done!’”
