How are you both doing? Excited to catch up with the creatives behind Murder Diaries Podcast. Let’s dive deep in right up front. Tell us what a day in the life of a podcaster is like? If you were to sum up your week – what would it include?
Balance, balance, balance! Right now we are both juggling other careers on top of the podcast. Every week for The Murder Diaries involves researching for a new case and preparing the episode. We both produce each episode and take turns every week on who writes and narrates. We also stay in constant contact with our team to make sure every episode is top notch and The Murder Diaries gets to the ears of it’s loyal listeners every week! Staying in touch with our social media followers is also a big part of our week. We love hearing from all of them!
How did the idea for the podcast come to light and will you share a little more about your story as friends launching a business venture together?
In early 2019 we met on Bumble BFF. Yes, THAT Bumble, but for BFFs. We bonded pretty quickly and realized that we both shared an interest in true crime. We watched the same shows and listened to the same podcasts. We would talk about the shows, podcasts, and cases together and thought “hey, why not just record these conversations?!” The rest is history, and here we are today with The Murder Diaries!
So many of us feel like we have great ideas but have a difficult time actually making them a reality. Can you give us any tips on how you started the podcast and actually made it happen?
We’ve learned that the secret to making podcasting work for us is a balancing act. It has definitely been a learning curve balancing 9-5 jobs with a podcast; however, you have to take your podcast seriously and be consistent if you want to make it happen.
What are some of the goals and milestones you would like to reach with the podcast in 2022 and beyond.
We want to continue to grow and thrive as we are! We aim to be that household name, top 10 podcast. To infinity and beyond!
Any episodes coming up that you are particularly excited about?
We honestly put 1000% behind each and every episode. Our victims deserve it. Their families that might listen deserve it.
There are so many podcasts out, how do you stay true to who you are and also relevant?
In an age where every week has a new TikTok trend, we always ask ourselves “is this us? Is this The Murder Diaries”. At our core we aim to stay genuine. We both stay in constant contact to make sure we agree on everything we put out from social media posts, to emails, and DM response. We make sure that it feels right and true to us and the podcast.
