Queen Letizia of Spain showed a surprising amount of skin for a royal in an ab-baring dress she wore to an event honoring aid workers.
The monarch attended a World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day event in Valencia, Spain on Tuesday where she wore a hot pink dress by Spanish label Cayro Woman that retails for $65. The midi dress features shoulder pads, long sleeves gathered at the wrist, as well as two oblique cut-outs secured with a gathered ring detail at the center of her torso. Queen Letizia completed her monochromatic outfit with a pair of Carolina Herrera croc-effect slingback pumps, a matching $1,755 Carolina Herrera insignia satchel, and CXC gold circle earrings. This event was held to acknowledge the contributions of Red Cross and Red Crescent staff and volunteer members who bring aid to communities around the world. During the ceremony, the queen also delivered the 2022 Spanish Red Cross Gold Medals.
While the daring look may have divided some royal fans, the monarch has become known for her bold, fashion-forward ensembles. Just last week, another one of her outfits made headlines when she arrived at the Reina Letizia 2021 Awards held during the Royal Board on Disability Council meeting in Spain’s Assembly of Extremadura. The royal wore the exact same $74 dress as the woman she was there to honor, a black and white belted Mango midi. Upon realizing that she was accidentally twinning with law professor Inmaculada Vivas Tesón, one of the event’s award recipients, both women embraced and burst out in laughter.
But Queen Letizia isn’t just a fan of a fast fashion bargain, she’s also been known to borrow a few vintage designer pieces from her mother-in-law. In January, she and her husband King Felipe attended a reception at the Royal Place in Madrid for the diplomatic corps accredited in Spain wearing a Valentino dress featuring a long, A-line forest green skirt with a pink and white sash at the waist and a sheer pink long sleeve top adorned with large, pink floral embroidery. This gown previously belonged to Felipe’s mother, Queen Sofía, who last wore the look in 1977 at Gymnich Castle on a state trip to Germany with her husband, King Juan Carlos.
