Simone Ashley has confirmed that she will not be reprising her role as Olivia in season four of Netflix’s Sex Education.
The actor’s profile has rocketed in recent months, thanks – in part – to her stunning portrayal of Kate Sharma in season two of Bridgerton.
During an interview with This Morning on 12 April, the GLAMOUR cover girl was asked if she would be returning to the Sex Education set. She replied saying, “I get asked that all the time,” before adding, “No, I’m a Bridgerton girl now.”
While we’ll miss her Sex Education, there’s no need to panic just yet. As Simone Ashley will “definitely” be returning for season three of Bridgerton.
During her This Morning appearance, she said, “[Kate’s] the head of the household now. The viscountess, married to Anthony, and it’s a year later at this point, so I’m really excited.”
In an interview with Deadline, the star hinted that fans can expect to see a lot more from Kate and Anthony, saying, “There were complications with the family and then they find each other towards the end. I think everything is just starting.
“I’d like to see Kate just let go a bit more and play more in season three and kind of swim in that circle of love together. I think they both deserve it. She’s in charge of the household now and she’s got big boots to put on. I think she can do it.
“I want to keep that softness and vulnerability to Kate and she can share that with Anthony.”
During her interview with GLAMOUR, Simone praised Bridgerton for representing South Asian women, saying, “Representation matters.
“I didn’t really watch period dramas much because I felt like I couldn’t relate to them, maybe because I couldn’t see myself within one. And then, Bridgerton came along.”
