GLAMOUR Tries: We reviewed the Il Makiage foundation using the online PowerMatch quiz – here’s our honest thoughts

“Here is the foundation that I’ve been sent. Moment of truth, I’m going to swatch a bit on my face,” Sophie says, applying a pump of the formula to her cheek. “It looks a little bit lighter than my skin tone, but actually when it’s blended in, that might work.”

One reviewer on TikTok (@kellyrosesarno) noted that in the delivery Il Makiage provides a card with instructions. On the card it says to apply two pumps of the formula to your face and blend with a brush or sponge, not your fingers, and then to wait five minutes for the foundation to set before checking the shade.

Sophie blends in the rest of the product to one side of her face with a brush. “This has actually blended so seamlessly into my face. It literally matches my perfectly. I’m mind blown. I was sceptical at first, but once it’s blended in I really love it.”

Once she has finished applying the rest of her makeup, Sophie gives her final verdict: “I love it. So, so good.” She says. “On the colour-matching front it literally is perfection, it matches my skin tone to a T, so it’s not a gimmick at all. You can still see my skin through the product, which I love, it doesn’t look too cake-y but you can build it up to something more full-coverage if you like. It worked perfectly with my normal concealer and blush too, so definitely go give it a go.”
