Ms. Marvel: The trailer for the epic new series just dropped, featuring Marvel’s first Muslim superhero

Marvel fans, get excited, because the universe is expanding with a very welcome addition. Disney+ has finally released the trailer and poster for Marvel Studios’ new series Ms. Marvel, and it’s going to be So. Good.

What do we know so far? MCU’s newest superhero is Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. Outside of school, she’s a gamer and an imaginative fan-fiction writer – particularly when it comes to the Avengers and her favourite superhero, Captain Marvel.

According to the show‘s synopsis things soon start to change for the teenager. “Kamala feels invisible both at home and at school – that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?” Right.

Here’s everything we know so far about Ms. Marvel…

What is the plot of Ms. Marvel?

In a new trailer, we see the Kamala Khan, or Ms. Marvel (a great superhero name, if we do say so) as she tries to balance high school life, her family and her emerging super powers. All set to the epic soundtrack of The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights, of course.

No doubt we’ll see her come up against a lot of the issues teenagers face today, as well as some supernatural occurrences.

As Marvel’s first muslim superhero, we see elements of Kamala’s culture in the trailer, too, including her praying at a Mosque and dancing in Pakistani dress. In one key line in the teaser, we hear her say: “It’s not really the brown girls from Jersey City… who save the world.”

When is Ms. Marvel‘s release date?

The show will launch exclusively on Disney+ on June 8.
