“Slow Twerkin” by 3B Rich

3B Rich is a vocal trio group out of Las Vegas. They are preparing the release of their first album to feature entirely original material. One of the first singles from that record, will be “Slow Twerkin.” Natural born performers, 3B has been hailed for their engaging and theatrical live shows. They’ve gotten a good education, moonlighting as The Jackson 5, for The Motown Extreme Show in Vegas.

Known for their vocal harmonies, their current single is a slow jam with a sinewy backdrop of sex and money; Las Vegas’s featured attractions. In spite of their impressive pedigree, 3B come across as real and even a little gritty on “Slow Twerkin,” albeit in the smoothest way. In spite of who they play onstage in their other life, 3B seems to have more in common with Color Me Badd, than the J5. Then again, this is based off of one single. The strength of “Slow Twerkin” is more than enough to get people intrigued for the upcoming album.

Shadowy and sexy, “Slow Twerkin” is rather literal in scope. It describes a young vixen who uses her appeal to get whatever she desires or needs. For those who have ever experienced the atmosphere inside a Gentleman’s Club, this track is transporting. The song doesn’t paint the most sympathetic portrait of its subject, but it doesn’t condemn her either. Like the watchful eye of the under Lord who oversees the Sin City night life, it merely observes, without judgment.

Production on “Slow Twerkin” is solid and replete. The band and/or the engineer wants you to focus on the track’s narrative as that is where you find its essence. While the vocal harmonies are notable, they aren’t particularly complex. There’s a great deal of layering on the track,  and every single lyric is not only decipherable, but digestible. If this sort of storytelling is predominant throughout the forthcoming album, then there is much to anticipate.

3B Rich has made it clear that they aspire to reach mainstream success. That sort of candidness is more refreshing than it is repelling, as many like to downplay ambition, unless of course you’re Kanye. Las Vegas is known to produce overtly pronounced careerists, and 3B is a product of their environment. They have also made statements that infer that they are doing this for their family. Their Father in particular, vowed they would have a better life than he.

3B isn’t breaking new ground with “Slow Twerkin,” but rather doing something well and doing it in signature fashion. The track is entertaining and artistically nourishing. It’s obvious that the group set out to craft a meticulously structured piece, without getting lost in the details. It will be interesting to hear if “Slow Twerkin,” ends up being the high point of their forthcoming album. If it is the best song on the record, there’s no shame in that, for it’s a fine one. You can now listen to “Slow Twerkin,” across all digital platforms.
