‘Louis Vuitton brunette’ is set to be one of spring’s prettiest hair colour trends

Brunettes are finally being given the attention they’re due. As with blonde there’s endless ways to explore, update and upgrade the shade. The latest? Louis Vuitton brunette.

If you’re envisioning glossy, designer-looking hair, you’d be right. One major bonus though is it won’t set you back nearly as much as one of the brand’s dreamy logo totes. Instead, the hair trend, coined by top London hairstylist, Tom Smith, is inspired by Louis Vuitton’s luxe desaturated, tonal colour palette.

While talking about his top spring hair colour predictions in an Instagram Reel, Tom, singled out a specific tone of brunette that he’s spotted taking off.

“Now I hope I don’t get a letter from Louis Vuitton, but I’m gonna call this one Louis Vuitton brunette,” he says. “It’s a really expensive, luxurious, rich shade of brunette. It couples very well with the expensive brunette trend,” he says, noting the Expensive Brunette trend that went stratospheric over winter is more about strategic placement, whereas Louis Vuitton brunette is more about a distinct combination of tones.

Despite us moving into spring, Tom reckons we’re going to see lots of our favourite influencers inverting convention by shifting their hair colour darker, warmer and richer rather than lighter and ashier. “This is about a really rich, caramel, amber tone,” he says, which is where LV comes in.

“Imagine the colour that the leather handles of your Louis Vuitton bag go when they’re well-loved and well-worn,” says Tom. And the condition is just as important. “It’s really shiny, really glossy, healthy hair,” he explains.

And like a well-worn, well-loved bag, the colour has an expensive but effortless vibe that pairs well with spring. It offers low-key glam but with low-maintenance upkeep. Painted across hair balayage-style the shades offer dimension. However, rather than highlighting face-framing sections and subtle pieces with the usual blonde and sandy tones, this trend opts for brighter sections in warmer tones like caramel, bronze and amber which play beautifully against bronzed sunshine skin.
