‘Resurrection’ Star Rebecca Hall & Director Andrew Semans On Their “Enormous Journey” – Sundance Studio

“You know I think I have a slightly self-flagellating instinct when it comes to acting,” admits Resurrection star Rebecca Hall “I don’t particular enjoy it unless there’s a lot to do,” the Sundance Film Festival vet adds.

“This was one of those scripts where there just was an enormous journey to go on, and the mountain seemed almost insurmountable,” Hall went on to say of the Andrew Semans penned and directed Tim Roth co-starrer. “That was a challenge the crazy person in me couldn’t resist.”

Joined by Sundance first timer Semans, Hall was speaking at Deadline’s Sundance Studio – as you can see in the video above.

Adapted from Semans’ 2019 Blacklist script, Resurrection is a blend of drama and horror that sees the orderly professional and personal life of Hall’s single mother Margaret ripped open by a literal and figurative blast from the past. “It was a no-brainer going to Rebecca since I was such a huge fan, such an admirer of her work,” Semans says of the Passing director taking on the role.

Having had its World Premiere tonight at the virtual fest, Resurrection was originally slated to screen in Salt Lake City until Sundance went entirely online due to the latest Covid surge. The Grace Kaufman, Michael Esper, and Angela Wong Carbone co-starrer will play again on January 24.

On the market via WME, Resurrection is produced by Tim Headington, Lia Buman, Tory Lenosky, Alex Scharfman, Drew Houpt, Lars Knudsen.
