Gen Z may have already declared that they’re Y2K fashion and beauty‘s biggest stans, but a member of Generation X, Halle Berry, showed everyone she’s also a big fan of the early aughts at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards.
Exhibit A: her hair. Hairstylist Sara Seward swept her bangs to the side, similar to how The Simple Life star Paris Hilton wore hers religiously in the early 2000s. The ode to Y2K hair continued to the back, where Seward tied Berry’s hair into a beautiful, messy updo. Seward shared on her Instagram stories that the whole hairstyle was created using products from Oribe and Leonor Greyl.
Exhibit B: the tracksuit. In a decade where glitter and sparkles were all the rage, Berry and her stylist, Lindsay Flores, couldn’t have picked a better outfit that screamed Y2K.
Last but not least: the eye makeup. No Y2K makeup beat is complete without glitter. Sorry, I don’t make the rules! Los-Angeles based makeup artist Jorge Monroy really packed the sparkly eye shadow onto Berry’s eyelids.
We love to see that Halle Berry made the PCAs her very own Y2K theme night. It’s no surprise that Berry opted for a Y2K-themed look, though, considering that 2021 has brought a full-on revival of the decade’s beauty staples, like face-framing baby braids, butterfly clips, and claw clips. This rebirth of early 2000s beauty trends has practically been making waves on the internet all year, so there’s no chance that the infatuation with the early aughts will be slowing down come 2022. Besides, who wouldn’t want to wear a tracksuit like this?
