Say it ain’t so, our favourite Brit Pop band is going on a hiatus and we don’t quite know what to do with ourselves. Little Mix have just announced they will be taking a hiatus from being part of the band on socials and fans everywhere don’t quite know what to do. The Twitter thread of Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock joint account reads: “We wanted to let you all know that after the Confetti tour in April/May next year we are going to be taking a break from Little Mix.” followed with “It’s been 10 amazing years, a wonderful non-stop adventure, and we feel the time is right to take a break so we can recharge and work on some other projects. We can’t thank you enough for your love and never-ending support since the beginning. We love you all SO much.” the tweet reads.
However, fear not fellow mixers. Although many fans speculate an imminent end to Little Mix after the birth of the babies and the girls’ individual ventures. The trio have denied an official split, thanking their fans for the continuous support in the last 10 years since their glorious X Factor days. From being a fabulous four to an epic three (after the departure of their bandmate Jesy Nelson), the former GLAMOUR cover stars re-iterate that it is not all over!
“We are not splitting up – Little Mix are here to stay We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future. We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make so many more.”
Finishing off by saying: “We’re sisters and we’ll always have each other and you, the fans, in our lives. Little Mix is forever See you on tour! Jade, Leigh-Anne and Perrie x” Awh!
This is the second heartbreak Mixers all over the world have had to endure in a space of 12 months. After former bandmate, Jesy Nelson announced her ’extended time off’ last month and then soon later revealing that she was officially leaving Little Mix for good. In an emotional letter, the singer took to Instagram back in December last year to share the news, writing: “The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard…”
Although there have been some challenges along the way, the band have shared many moments of glory, from winning the X Factor in 2011, going on world tours, making history by becoming the first female band to win ‘best group’ at the Brits and being crowned GLAMOUR Women of the Year Gamechangers in Music, just this year! It’s been a decade full of success and separately they have found other ventures with Perry launching her own luxury clothing line and becoming a mum of one, Leigh-Anne starring in her first-ever Christmas movie ‘Boxing Day’ and becoming a mum of two, and of course, baby Jade venturing into the beauty world by teaming with Beauty Bay to release an epic eyeshadow palette.
Just a few nights ago (Tuesday 30th November) Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards were just spotted proudly supporting Leigh-Anne Pinnock at the premiere of her first film, Boxing Day, and to be honest, it was obvious that the love is still there. Jade and Perrie took to the red carpet and they couldn’t have looked any prouder of their bandmate. While they posed for photos and took snaps with fans, the trio laughed, hugged, and held hands.
We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for our girls, but let’s keep our fingers cross for a more imminent reunion because otherwise British Pop music might not ever be the same again…
