Adele’s interview with Oprah Winfrey and concert special, aptly titled Adele: One Night Only, premiered Sunday, November 14 on CBS. For the performance portion, the Grammy winner stunned in a black Schiaparelli gown and striking Schiaparelli earrings shaped like the planet Saturn. Eagle-eye fans noticed the Saturn earrings match a tattoo of the planet Adele has on her arm, and it turns out there’s a hidden astrological meaning behind the look.
It has to do with the Saturn return, which, according to Astrology.com, “is a highly-touted astrological moment when the planet Saturn returns to the degree and sign that it was during the moment we were born.” It takes about 27 to 32 years for this to happen, so, in other words, Adele experienced this as she was creating her album, 30.
Astrology.com says “the first Saturn return…is a time of embracing adulthood. We are stepping up into the roles that will define our lives for nearly the next three decades until the second Saturn return that occurs in our mid-to-late 50s.”
Adele opened up about experiencing her Saturn return to Vogue in October. “Then I hit my Saturn return,” she said. “It’s where I lost the plot. When that comes, it can rock your life. It shakes you up a bit: Who am I? What do I want to do? What makes me truly happy? All those things.”
Adele also mentioned Saturn return when she first announced her album. She said the record was “my ride or die throughout the most turbulent period of my life. When I was writing it, it was my friend who came over with a bottle of wine and takeaway to cheer me up. My wise friend who always gives the best advice. Not to forget the one who’s wild and says, ‘It’s your Saturn return babes f*ck it, you only live once.’”
