Taylor Swift’s heart-wrenching ballad All Too Well has been a go-to millennial breakup track since 2012. As one of her most beloved songs err, ever, it makes total sense that she’s decided to make it into a movie. Sort of.
All Too Well The Short Film is Taylor’s latest way of breathing new life into her most-loved tracks – and there’s not long left to wait, since it’s set to debut on YouTube at midnight on 13 November GMT.
She posted a still of the film on her social media accounts, writing: “Shot on 35mm film with cinematography by the brilliant @the_rinayang. Plan your watch parties or grab your blanket and curl up into a ball. However you want to watch All Too Well The Short Film, it’ll be out tomorrow on YouTube at 7pm Eastern.”
It’s safe to say the Taylor Swift fandom were pretty excited by the news. One tweeted: “You’re telling me that the scenes I’ve visualized from this song since its release are finally going to come to life? We dance around the kitchen in the refrigerator light? Wind in my hair I was there? THANK YOU FOR WRECKING MY PLANS TAYLOR I-“
Another calmly wrote: “WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY TAYLOR SWIFT!?!?!?? WE AREN’T GOING TO SURVIVE.”
Of course, there were theories, too, based on the shot of Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink and Teen Wolf star Dylan O’Brien looking intensely at each other in the promo.
One fan speculated on the age gap between Dylan and Sadie, saying, “The age gap between Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink is 10 years exactly like Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal.”
Another wrote, “dylan is 30 and sadie is 19. she’s literally coming for jake g over and over until he’s DEAD,” while another added, “I was just about to complain about how it was kind of creepy casting Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien as love interests till I realised that it was intentional. GOD Jake Gyllenhaal you will answer to your crimes!!”
It’s safe to say that Jake Gyllenhall has left the chat.
