This is big! I know we’re all upset about Regé-Jean Page not returning for season two of Bridgerton, but Shonda Rhimes‘s latest announcement might allow us to be more forgiving. The Bridgerton producer told Variety on Tuesday that she’s hoping the hit regency-era Netflix series is here to stay for a long time. “There are eight Bridgerton siblings, and as far as I’m concerned, there are eight Bridgerton seasons,” Rhimes said. “And maybe more.” I’m trying not to cry.

It was already announced in April that Bridgerton had been renewed for seasons three and four. The series is also planning a spinoff all about Queen Charlotte, which Netflix announced in May. Rhimes’s prediction that the TV series, based on the nine Bridgerton novels, will go on for at least eight seasons isn’t an overshot. Remember, she’s behind six seasons of How to Get Away with Murder, seven seasons of Scandal and 18 seasons (and counting) of Grey’s Anatomy. I’m hoping there are more heartthrobs in the future of Bridgerton! And for the book fans, you’ll get your fix.
