Kate Middleton and Prince William Attended Her Brother James’s Provence Wedding

The youngest Middleton sibling married his fiancée, Alizee Thévenet, at a ceremony in France, and the vineyard wedding reception reportedly involved “many bottles of wine.”

Over the weekend, Kate Middleton and Prince William made a quick trip to France to celebrate a Middleton family milestone. According to the Daily Mail, Kate’s younger brother James Middleton married his fiancée, Alizée Thévenet, at Chateau Leoube, a vineyard in Provence, and the duke, the duchess, and their three children were among the 50 guests.

The couple was reportedly married by the mayor of Bormes-les-Mimosas, the village where the vineyard is located, in a ceremony at the town hall. A local source told the tabloid about the reception that followed. “The wedding party was held at a Chateau Leoube. It is one of the most exclusive vineyards in the area,” the source said. “Chateau Leoube makes exceptionally good wine, particularly the rosé, which is known throughout France and overseas. So it was only natural that the guests were served with Chateau Leoube wine, which they drank when they toasted James and Alizée. Many bottles of wine were drunk. Everyone had a good time.” Later, the couple stayed the night at the vineyard.

After their 2019 engagement, James told the Telegraph that he met Alizée when his cocker spaniel approached her at a private club in 2018, just months after he entered treatment for depression. They had originally planned to wed in 2020 but postponed twice due to the pandemic. Both announced the wedding on their Instagram accounts with a photo that shows them embracing. James said he was happy to be surrounded by his dogs, friends, and family, but didn’t specify who attended, while Alizée added the caption “Just Married!”

Chateau Leoube is owned by Lord Anthony and Lady Carole Bamford, British owners of a construction company and organic farm. According to the London Evening Standard, Carole Bamford shares more than just a first name with the groom’s mother, Carole Middleton; both women began their careers as flight attendants.
