We’re big fans of dresses at GLAMOUR HQ. There isn’t an occasion that a frock doesn’t suit from WFH or at the office… on dates, holidays, picnics or beach days. This summer, one of our fave styles to emerge is the cut out dress. From our fave high street brands to the fanciest designer retailer, everyone has fallen for the allure of conceal and reveal cutaway details.
Physically, flashing some skin feels deliciously fresh – at least it does when you’re more used to being covered up in a tracksuit – and psychologically the trend taps into a bigger need for freedom post-lockdown. It’s a pretty basic metaphor. Cutaway details echo the trend for sexy dressing that fashion buyers are focusing on this season and beyond (Heads-up: cut out details are a mainstay of AW21’s upcoming trends too.)
We’ve spotted Dua Lipa looking *flames* in a printed cut out mini-dress on holiday along with Paris-based blogger Slip Into Style, who always inspires our outfit planning. If you want to cut out and keep this season’s freshest trend, these are some of styles we are properly Into.
Even though cut out dresses are one of 2021’s break-out trends, shop carefully and you can wear the style forever. Black dress are always a forever fashion choice. Reformation make sustainable choices in the fabrics they use and their cut out dress is slinky with thigh splits, as well as rib-cage cutaways. H&M have a black t-shirt style cut-away dress and Warehouse’s satin puff sleeve version is an influencer favourite already.
ASOS have a chic linen-look dress in a soft stone tone while Reiss have a softly pleated halterneck dress with subtle slashes around the waistline. If you have a bigger budget to invest, Roland Mouret’s fitted grass green dress will be a forever buy.
