Britney Spears Officially Retires From Music: Report

With Britney Spears’ conservatorship under the spotlight, no one wants to be associated with this ongoing injustice.

Her friends are speaking out. Her fans are vocal. Even Britney’s faceless financial trust is distancing itself.

Now, Britney’s longtime manager is adding himself to that list.

He is resigning from her team in light of Britney’s expressed wishes, adding that he has been in the dark about too many things.

TMZ reports that Britney Spears’ manager of many years, Larry Rudolph, has resigned.

He submitted his resignation via email on Sunday, July 4.

Independence Day is an almost overly appropriate date for any news regarding Britney’s conservatorship, don’t you think?

Larry sent the email to Britney’s personal conservator, Jodi Montgomery, and to the conservator of her estate, Jamie Spears.

“It has been over 2 1/2 years since Britney and I last communicated,” Larry wrote.

Larry commented that it was “at which time she informed me she wanted to take an indefinite work hiatus.”

“Earlier today, I became aware that Britney had been voicing her intention to officially retire,” Larry observed.

He added that he is not part of Britney’s widely condemned conservatorship.

Additionally, Larry admitted that he is unaware — or has been kept unaware — of many of the details.

“I was originally hired at Britney’s request,” Larry recalled in the email.

He was hired at that time “to help manage and assist her with her career.”

It was with this in mind that he reached this decision.

“And as her manager, I believe it is in Britney’s best interest for me to resign from her team,” Larry expressed.

He came to this conclusion “as my professional services are no longer needed.”

Obviously, hearing Britney describe how much of her career had been involuntary must be haunting him.

“I will always be incredibly proud of what we accomplished over our 25 years together,” Larry expressed.

He affirmed: “I wish Britney all the health and happiness in the world.”

“And I’ll be there for her if she ever needs me again,” Larry vowed, “just as I always have been.”

During Britney’s historic conservatorship testimony, she spoke of how she was induced to perform.

At times, she described, her father would allegedly ambush her and pressure her into agreeing to specific performances and deals.

At other times, Britney said, she would be “punished” through the conservatorship if she did not abide by her father’s wishes.

Rapper Iggy Azalea spoke up in support of Britney even though she was breaking an NDA in the process.

Iggy described a similar experience of her own.

She recalled Jamie Spears surprising her with an NDA to sign while she was backstage, just before she was to perform with Britney.

In 2019, Britney’s court-ordered attorney informed the judge that Britney is afraid of her father.

He described how she had no intention of performing at any time while Jamie was her conservator.

Given that he remains her conservator, it seems unlikely that Britney will ever perform or make music again.

However, even if justice is done and Britney’s conservatorship evaporates tomorrow, she still might not.

Britney has already brought so much joy to the world. She does not owe us — her fans — anything.

She is fully entitled to enjoy her life. “Free Britney” is not about getting new music; it’s about seeking justice.
